We'd be worried if he wasn't.

Evan had his 4 month well-baby check this week. Notes from the Dr: "Well, he's got flirting down.", "My he's a strong little guy, isn't he?", "He is darn close to sitting by himself.", "Perfectly healthy, perfectly happy, he's pretty perfect, I'd say!", and my ultimate favorite (which I get told just about every day) "He's really tall for his age." Well, Doc, we'd be worried if he wasn't. That's how we know he's ours!!

Current stats:
Head circumference=17.5", 95%
Weight= 16.5 lbs, 80%
Length= 26.5", 95%
Weight for Length percentile= 30%

Here is Evan today, bathing it up."Mom, I think we need a bigger tub. ASAP."

I just have to include some pics from Evan's very first bath, at about 2 1/2 weeks old.Can you believe this guy? How is that the same baby?!

And just for fun, here is a little bit of what we've done lately. (Trey, your post is coming. Soon. I Promise.)

Evan is getting really into books. We read every day. One night he and his friend Tyson, who absolutely LOVES books, had a grand ol' time reading together!
Who knew reading was so much fun?! They sat for quite awhile as I went through each of our little books.

Do you see what I see?
I see some big daddy feets and some little tiny baby feets swinging in the hammock.

One of these things is not like the other...
Either Daddy is definitely not supposed to be napping or Evan is!

My two favorite HAPPY boys!!!

Oh, what do you do when your 4 months old?

And all the world is a stage?

You become a rocker of course!

And learn to fall asleep in the silliest places

And figure out how to turn your favorite pal into a comfy pillow.

Is that what you do? So do I!

*Oops! Editor's note: Sorry, I guess you'll have to turn you computer on it's side for the videos. ;) And don't worry, Mom. He didn't fall off the couch.

To all of his adoring fans

There have been many a request for video of Evan laughing. Last night, he started pulling a fake coughing trick and thought it was so funny. So I tried my best to capture the moment, one handed, while still trying to keep the baby entertained. It may not be our best work (mine, as director, or Evan's, as star of the show.) He tends to be so entranced by the shininess that is the camera, it's hard to get him to act his happy self.

I have to add that this was right after I had changed his diaper and everything we were BOTH wearing. We had just gotten home from a primary presidency meeting with a member of the Bishopric, where Evan had pooed so much it came out the bottom of his pant leg, straight into my lap. He then proceeded to laugh and talk to the girl sitting next to us, while she gave the closing prayer. I think he thought she was playing peek a boo. These things probably contributed to why he was in such a laughing mood.

Pretty cute, eh?

Bet you thought this was post about my adorable little munchkin, huh? Ha! I actually do other things besides admire my baby all day. Those other things include Primary. Last night I was in charge of refreshments for a meeting for those Primary kids. Here's what I came up with:Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes! Pretty cute, eh? Too bad I didn't figure out how to make them this cute until the very end of my baking. None of the cute ones were even used for the purpose of making them in the first place! But I still felt darn good about myself being able to even pull this off. I am not a creative or "cutesy" person, so this was a great accomplishment for me!

HA! I bet I've tricked you again. Do you really think I could do a whole post without my adorable little munchkin?! That's just crazy talk.

Last week the babe got sick and I, being a weak mom who felt so bad that the little guy wasn't acting himself, did the one thing I told myself I would never do. I bought him a toy. In my defense, it was on clearance at Kmart. It is so dang cute. And Evan adores it.
I call it Ellie. Nate calls it Bumbo. (Nate calls Evan's actual Bumbo the boppy, and the actual boppy, just pillow. It's hard to be a man in world of baby language.) So Bumbo the Ellie and Evan became immediate best friends.
He hugged and cuddled it right away. He wrapped his hands in the rings. He squealed with delight when I showed him how to crinkle it's noisy ears. Then he nearly lost his breath from laughing so hard when I squeezed it and it squeaked.
You're not thinking about taking this away, are you?
Don't even think about it, crazy lady. We're now attached at the hip.
Until it was bedtime. The next day, Evan seemed to have forgotten about Bumbo the Ellie, simply over night. (One of the many reasons I never wanted to be the one to waste money on toys. That's what grandmas are for!) It took him a little while to get reacquainted.
Bumbo the Ellie was patient and they are now best friends again, attached at the hip. Day in and day out. I have to admit, I might be a little attached, too. It's too dang cute to watch how much Evan loves playing with his buddy! My clearance slip up was well worth it.

A Bit of a Flop

Note to self: Do not go to any of the (3) stores in town the night before a holiday. They will be A) packed, and B) completely sold out of anything decent.
I couldn't even find the good ol' PAAS. We were left with some random Tye Dye egg kit. We were pretty disappointed in our final products. Evan fell asleep as soon as we started. Apparently he's not in to tye dye. Or family fun. Or maybe just eggs. Not only can you not find egg dye, you of course cannot find any Cadbury Eggs. It was probably for the best, since that would have been our third bag of the season. Eek!

I knew I wouldn't be able to come even a little bit close to an Easter Feast like my mom does, so I didn't even try. :) I bought a little bit of deli ham and some brown and serve rolls, and along with our funny eggs, that was our sad little dinner. My sweet husband kept telling me it didn't matter what we were eating, it was just special because we were together as a family. Aww...We were lucky enough to find General Conference broadcast on tv so we didn't have to haul the bambino to the stake center for 6 hours. We loved watching conference together, in our own home, at our own convenience. We enjoyed all of the messages on parenting and really took them to heart. Evan actually laughed during all the appropriate parts when President Monson would speak. (He may have just been laughing at us, I suppose!) Conference was certainly the best part of our first Easter as a little family.
Happy little Evan boy, in a very cute onesie from Great-Gram Betty, enjoying his first General Conference.
Maybe he's training to be an Olympian? He's very focused.
This little guy is so content no matter what he's doing, even tummy time! The poor babe had to go to the doc today and the nurse couldn't believe how happy he was for being woken up from a nap, getting a rectal temp, having things poked in his ears and nose, and enduring her cold fingers. He just laughed at her and flirted; it's what he does best.
